What is Smarts?
Every art piece is generated directly from a smart contract deployed on Ethereum mainnet. There are APIs, build servers, IPFS, Arweave or any external dependencies. These artworks will live as long as Ethereum itself.
What does Smart-Contract-Based Generative Arts mean?
Smart-Contract-Based Generative Arts, or Smarts, are arts generated by computer programming code that are running on the Ethereum blockchain. All of the art generation code is represented in the form of smart contracts on Ethereum. At a more technical level, each tokenURI invocation generates the full art work without referring to any other external sources.
How do I mint?
Each art piece is generated by smart contract at the time of mint. You will not know what the piece will look like until after you finish minting.
Go to a project page while connected to Metamask, where you will see a mint button
Each art piece is represented on the Ethereum network by a ERC721 NFT token.
What is a Smarts Curated project?
The Smarts Curated collection contains multiple projects and they are the very best and most innovative smart contract arts. These projects go through a curation process.
What is a Smarts Playground project?
Any artists that have successfully released a Curated project will have access to the Playground, which is designed for experimentations. These projects do not go through the curation process.
What is Skyline?
Skyline is project 0 of the Smarts Curated collection, the very first collection to kick start this platform.
What is the total supply for Smarts Curated Project 0: Skyline?
Skyline is an open edition art work. We would like to get as many people interested in Smarts platform to be able to mint our very first project's artwork. We will have the mint window open for a while as we build our community and let the world know about the Smarts platform. There will be a hard cap of 10000, but we will most likely permanently pause the minting of Skyline well before that.
How is Smarts different from platforms such as Art Blocks?
The main difference between Smarts and Art Blocks is how artworks are generated. Art Blocks art pieces have their source code uploaded to Ethereum in the form of raw text. Then an art block backend API service read these text and create the artwork off-chain. This model works so long Art Blocks exists, which can be considered as a single point of failure. With Smarts, all artwork generation is done by Ethereum, the world computer, itself. The code to generate artworks are done in smart contracts, the most native concepts within Ethereum, with no other dependencies. So long Ethereum exists, all Smarts artworks will exist. This is the most decentralized and long lasting generative art platform at the time of creation.
